International students who are currently on exchange in Slovenia need:

• Valid personal identification document (ID card or passport)
• Valid driver's license
• Valid student ID or certificate of enrollment in a Slovenian institution
• Payment can be made with a credit card, debit card, or cash.

At the time of pick-up, a valid driver's license for all drivers listed on the rental agreement will be required.

Driver's licenses that are not written in Latin characters (such as Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, and others) or residents outside the EU (European Union) must also have an international driver's license. Regarding state rules and laws, we recommend contacting the relevant embassy in case of any doubt.

*Additional information for the United Kingdom (Brexit): Currently, there is no need for additional documents for vehicle rental at ATET.

ATET accepts only the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard or Diners. 

If you don't have a credit card, you need a card that can be used for pre-authorizing funds (blocking), which you can check with your bank before making a reservation.. Cash transactions are not possible (with the exception of international students).

If at time of pick up there is no acceptable credit card / card with reservation of funds possible then we potentially may not be able to provide vehicle for you.

Cash or debit card transactions are not possible at ATET, as a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or Diners) is mandatory for reserving and paying for the rental. The exception are international exchange students in Slovenia, who have the option to pay with cash, debit, or credit card.

Make a reservation online in five easy steps. After receiving your online request, our reservation center will check availability and send you a reservation confirmation or a notification of an unavailable vehicle as soon as possible.

• 1) Select pick-up and drop-off location, pick-up and drop-off date, and pick-up and drop-off time.
• 2) Choose the desired vehicle category.
• 3) Choose additional liability waiver (additional insurance).
• 4) Choose add-ons (child seat, permit for driving abroad, roadside assistance, etc.).
• 5) Enter your information and submit the reservation.

Yes, you can pick up your rental car at one office and return it to another one, but there is an additional fee:

*If you would like to pick up the vehicle at a different address, delivery to the desired address is also possible with an additional charge. When submitting your online inquiry, you can write a request for vehicle delivery in the final step of the reservation, and upon receiving your inquiry, we will provide you with information on the additional cost based on the selected address. Booking a vehicle with pick-up less than 24 hours from the time of the online reservation is not possible.

We recommend that you make your vehicle reservation at least a few days before the desired pick-up date, as this will increase the likelihood of confirming your desired vehicle category.

Car rental for travel abroad is possible. For this purpose, we issue a permit for driving abroad, which is an additional fee of €36.60. The fee is a one-time charge, valid for the entire rental period and is included in the vehicle pickup.

If the customer decides to travel to a country outside Slovenia after the rental has already started, it is necessary to inform ATET and obtain approval for driving the rental car abroad.

If ATET is not informed in advance about travel outside Slovenia and it is found that the vehicle was in another country during the rental period, the renter will be charged double the surcharge fee, which is €73.20.

There are exceptions. Currently, we do not rent vehicles for travel to the following countries: 

Persons / companies can also rent a vehicle for any period of time, from 1 day up to 24 months. There are no other time limitations, but during the rental period, it is necessary to report the current monthly mileage.

If you would like to rent a vehicle for more than 24 months (2 years or more), this is only possible for business users, in the form of a business vehicle long-term lease.

• People who are at least 21 years old;
• If a person is over 18 but under 21 years old an additional fee for young driver is required*
• Persons authorized to drive or use the vehicle with a rental contract, which is an integral part of the ATET general terms and conditions.

Young drivers can also rent a car at ATET. The cost for a young driver is an additional charge of 8,00 € per day. In case the rental period is longer than 10 days, the maximum charge for the entire rental period is 80,00€.

The cost for a young driver must be included if:

• The person is between 18 and 21 years old

*An exception applies to international students, Erasmus students, and exchange students in Slovenia. The additional charge for a young driver is 4,00€ per day, with a maximum charge of 40,00€ if the rental period is longer than 8 days. A 50% discount on the young driver fee is included.
