  1. What documents do I need to rent a car in Slovenia with ATET?

To use our car rental services in Slovenia, you need:

  • Valid ID (passport or ID card)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or Diners) or Debit card with pre-authorization option

For international students (e.g. Erasmus in Slovenia), rent a car Slovenia requirements include:

  • Valid ID
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Student ID or enrollment certificate

Payment options: credit card, debit card, or cash (students only).

 

  1. What type of driver’s license is valid for car hire in Slovenia?

For car hire in Slovenia, all drivers must present a valid driver’s license at pick-up.

  • EU licenses → accepted without restrictions
  • Non-EU drivers → may require an International Driving Permit (IDP)
  • Non-Latin licenses (Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, etc.) → IDP required

If unsure, check with your local embassy before booking your car rental Slovenia.

 

  1. Which Credit Cards are acceptable for car rental?

For rent a car Slovenia services, ATET accepts:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • Diners

A valid card (Credit or Debit Card) must allow pre-authorization (deposit hold / reservation of funds).

Without a valid card, vehicle pick-up may not be possible.

  1. Can I pay car rental with cash or with debit card?

For most car rental bookings in Slovenia, payment requires:

  • Credit card or
  • Debit card (with pre-authorization enabled)

*Cash payment is generally not available, except for international students.

  1. How do I book a car rental in Slovenia online?

Booking a rent a car in Slovenia with ATET is simple:

  1. Choose pick-up & drop-off location, date, and time
  2. Select your vehicle category
  3. Add excess protection (insurance) options
  4. Choose extras (child seat, cross-border permit, etc.)
  5. Enter details and submit request

  1. Can I pick up a rental car at one location and return it to another?

Yes – one-way car rental in Slovenia is possible.

Popular routes include:

  • Ljubljana ↔ Ljubljana Airport
  • Ljubljana ↔ Maribor
  • Ljubljana ↔ Koper

Additional fee applies (typically €20–€30 depending on location).

  1. When should I book a rent a car in Slovenia?

We recommend booking your car hire in Slovenia at least a few days in advance.

  • Earlier booking = better vehicle availability and pricing.

 

  1. Can I travel outside of Slovenia with a rental car?

Yes, cross-border car rental Slovenia is possible.

  • Cross-border permit fee: €36.60 (one-time fee)

Required before leaving Slovenia

Important:

  • Does NOT include tolls, vignettes, or local regulations
  • Driver is responsible for compliance in each country
  • If traveling abroad without permission → penalty fee applies.

  1. Can I rent a vehicle for a longer period?

Yes, ATET offers flexible long-term car rental Slovenia:

  • From 1 day up to 24 months
  • Over 24 months → business lease options available

Ideal for:

  • business users
  • temporary mobility needs
  • expats in Slovenia

  1. Who can rent a car in Slovenia with ATET?

To use our rent a car Slovenia services, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Be listed in the rental agreement
  • Drivers under 21 are subject to a young driver fee.

  1. Can young drivers rent a car in Slovenia?

Yes – young driver car rental Slovenia is available.

Fees:

  • Standard: 8€ / day (max €80)
  • International Students: 4€ / day (max €40)
